site.btaAgriculture Ministry, Farmers Discuss Amended Strategic Plan for Agriculture and Rural Development

Minister of Agriculture and Food Kiril Vatev discussed with livestock farmers' organizations the first amendment to the Strategic Plan for Agriculture and Rural Development for the period 2023-2027, as well as the comments received on the proposed changes from the European Commission, the Ministry reported on Friday. Vatev said it was important to have simple and enforceable requirements.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Agriculture Minister Deyan Stratev, Bulgarian Food Safety Agency Executive Director, Svetlozar Patarinski, and Executive Agency for Selection and Reproduction in Animal Husbandry Executive Director, Georgi Yordanov.

The Agriculture Ministry and the farmers discussed the refinement of the methodology for controlling the marketed production of dairy and beef animals under coupled support interventions.

The representatives of the farmers' organizations pledged to send specific proposals related to the marketing of livestock production. Once the Ministry of Agriculture received these proposals, a further meeting will be scheduled to discuss them.
