site.btaPolice Foil Large Marijuana Deal, Six Arrested

Officers from the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime (GDCOC) have carried out a successful raid against drug trafficking, the press centre of the Ministry of Interior reported on Friday.

The specialised police actions were carried out on Thursday on the territory of the Blagoevgrad, Burgas and Plovdiv districts and were the result of preliminary operational and search work. During the action, the special police officers foiled a deal for 30 kg of marijuana and detained a total of six Bulgarian citizens - four in Bansko and one each in Plovdiv and Burgas.

A pre-trial procedure has been initiated in the case in the GDCOC, and the work on documenting the overall activities of the detainees continues.

Parallel actions are ongoing on the territory of Veliki Preslav, the Interior Ministry said.

At a briefing on Thursday, the District Prosecutor's Office in Plovdiv announced that a citizen of North Macedonia was arrested on the Trakia motorway carrying 130 kg of marijuana. A Bulgarian national was also arrested in Sofia.
