The government approved a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Council of Ministers and Transparency International - Bulgaria. The document was drafted in expression of the two sides' desire to make joint efforts in preventing and countering corruption and developing good governance, and proposes a framework within which this should be done.

Based on what is foreseen in the Memorandum, the two sides will have the opportunity to transfer know-how in the implementation of practical good governance instruments, including those developed within the OECD framework. These could include internationally recognised good governance standards, OECD-developed guidelines, systems for assessing the quality of governance, mechanisms for transparency in the handling of public resources.

The scope of the cooperation also implies assistance to the government in developing and introducing measures of a legal and economic nature to encourage and assist public and private sector entities in implementing measures under the priority "Public Participation Policy in Public Enterprises" through the prism of good governance and integrity requirements.

The interaction process will further help to take practical steps and provide timely information on European and global developments.
