Bulgarians from both banks of the Danube River celebrated the feast of vine growers on the eve of Trifon Zarezan in Varna, on the Black Sea, the Association of Bulgarians in Ukraine reported on its Facebook page on Tuesday. The Regional Centre for Bulgarian Culture in Bolhrad organized the initiative in Bulgaria for the first time.
Head of the Regional Centre for Bulgarian Culture Galina Ivanova told BTA that the event has turned into a symbol of the unity between Bulgarians from Ukraine and Bulgaria, a symbol of hard work, love and the desire to preserve Bulgarian folklore.
The event was made possible thanks to the President of the Association of Bulgarians in Ukraine, Anton Kisse, and with cooperation from entrepreneurs in Bolhrad.
Ivanova said: "Together with the staff of the Bulgarian Centre in Bolhrad, our compatriots from Bessarabia, who now live in Varna, took part in the rituals. These are students in Varna's universities, as well as other Bessarabian Bulgarians."
