site.btaBGN 2.3 Mln Worth of Heroin Seized at Border with Turkiye
A consignment of heroin worth BGN 2,329,000 was intercepted by Bulgarian customs officers after a check on a truck entering Bulgaria from Turkiye via the Kapitan Andreevo checkpoint, the Customs Agency in Sofia said on Tuesday.
A foreign-registered long-haul truck with a semi-trailer, travelling from Turkiye to the Netherlands, arrived at Kapitan Andreevo on Sunday, driven by a Turkish citizen. The vehicle was picked for a thorough customs check. Inside the fire extinguishers the officers found plastic packs containing a beige powdered substance which later tested positive for heroin. The gross weight of the drug was 12.03 kg.
Pretrial proceedings were launched under the supervision of the Haskovo Regional Prosecution Office.
