Burgas Airport reported a growth of 13% in the number of passengers served in 2023, compared to the data for the previous year, indicates summary data by concessionaire Fraport Twin Star Airport Management AD, published on Wednesday. The company pointed out that Burgas Airport served 1.8 million passengers, but still reported a 36% drop compared to pre-pandemic 2019 levels.

The completed flights of the 46 airlines using the airport included 75 destinations. The largest number of passengers served came from Poland (474,000). The following markets were Great Britain with 377,000 passengers, Czechia with 207,000, Germany with 160,000 and Israel with 88,000 passengers served. The top five destinations from Burgas Airport were London, Warsaw, Prague, Katowice and Tel Aviv.

In 2023, Burgas Airport added 7 new routes to its portfolio, said the concessionaire company. These included flights to Lithuania, Sweden, Spain, Norway and the Netherlands.

The flights served to Burgas airport were 13,174, of which 6,042 were regular and 5,478 were charter flights. The largest number of charter flights served these five destinations: Katowice, Warsaw (Poland), Prague, Brno (Czechia) and Tel Aviv (Israel). The busiest months at the airport were June, July and August, with the largest number of passengers served on August 11 (a total of 26,644), Fraport Twin Star Airport Management also reported.

In 2023, the airport also facilitated the transportation of a total of 2,556 tonnes of cargo and mail.
