site.btaSinger and Performance Artist Ivo Dimchev Starts International Tour

Bulgarian singer and performance artist Ivo Dimchev is starting an international tour. On January 16 he will sing at the Frascati Theatre in Amsterdam, and on January 18 he will appear at the Eurosonic Noorderslag music festival in Groningen, the artist's crew reported on Monday.

On January 22 Dimchev will be a special guest at the Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles, where he will stage his own show. On February 2 and March 3 he will be at the Oasis Cabaret in San Francisco, a night club for theatre and performance art. The American leg of Dimchev's tour also includes shows at the La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club in New York between February 15 and 25.

On March 19 the artist will come back to Sofia for a show at the Stroeja Club.

Ivo Dimchev's rich voice can melt all defenses and prejudices, Gia Kourlas wrote in the New York Times in November 2023. Billionaire heiress Anita Durst, an art patron and founder of the Chashama foundation which partners with property owners to transform unused real estate into artist/creative spaces, saw a performance by Dimchev at Joe's Pub in New York. She commented: "I've never heard anybody sing the way he does and use his body to emote emotion. It transforms your being in the moment."

Dimchev plans to stage his first exhibition in New York in April. He intends to incorporate his paintings into a new show which he has started working on. For years he has painted self-portraits on which he puts a special seal and his telephone number.
