Michael Flatley's dazzling high-energy show Lord of the Dance will play twice in Sofia on May 18, 2024, as the initially planned single performance has already sold out, the promoters said. The Irish dance group will start their Eastern European tour from Bulgaria. In addition to the two runs at Sofia's National Palace of Culture, they will appear at the Palace of Culture and Sports in the Black Sea city of Varna on May 19.
Established in 1996, Lord of the Dance will be continuing their extended 25th anniversary tour in 2024. The new version of Michael Flatley's production includes some new elements and characters.
Forty of the world's most remarkable young dancers are taking part in the show, directed by Flatley, which now features wonderful new costumes and choreography. It uses avant-garde lighting and special effects, and original music by Gerard Fahey. Impressive, spectacular and captivating, Lord of the Dance combines the best of a fascinating tradition and the excitement of new music and dance.
Flatley is credited with reinventing traditional Irish dance by incorporating new rhythms, syncopation and upper body movements, which were previously absent from the dance, as well as including influences from tap and contemporary dance.
