site.btaBorissov: Bulgarian People Unwilling to Join Hostilities, We Won't Let Bulgaria Take Military Action
"The Bulgarian people does not wish to be involved in hostilities, and we will not allow Bulgaria to be embroiled in hostilities," GERB leader Boyko Borissov commented here on Friday.
He reacted to a statement by Defence Minister Todor Tagarev, who told journalists on December 27 that a possibility of Bulgaria joining the operation in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden was being discussed. "Bulgaria is one of the most affected countries by what is happening in this region. "We are ready to participate," Tagarev said. He was referring to two Bulgarian-owned ships with Bulgarian nationals among the crew members that were captured off the coast of Yemen last month.
Borissov pointed out on Friday that "troops cannot be send without authorization from Parliament." "We are helping Ukraine, we stand by Israel, but above all we stand by the Bulgarian people," the GERB leader said.
