Events presenting Bulgarian culture were held at the Suginami special ward in Tokyo on December 15 and 16, the Bulgarian Embassy in Japan said on Facebook. The events were held in relation to Bulgarian pianist Radoslav Nikolov's visit to Japan. Nikolov has won a number of national and international awards.
On December 15, the Suginami Municipal Momoi Daisan Elementary School organized a Bulgaria Day. Special guest was Nikolov, who performed two mini-concerts for all the students.
On December 16, a Bulgaria Day was also held at the Sesion Suginami Hall. The event presented Bulgarian folk costumes, souvenirs, Troyan ceramics and an exhibition of illustrations on Bulgarian folk songs. Traditional Bulgarian products, including wine, honey, ceramics, and rose products, were also presented. The cultural programme included Bulgarian folk dances and music performed by the San Balkan ensemble.
Bulgaria's Ambassador in Tokyo Marieta Arabadjieva expressed her satisfaction with the strengthening of ties with the Suginami special ward, where many Bulgarians live. She also voiced hope that the events will contribute to deepening the knowledge of Bulgaria as a cultural, tourist and gastronomic destination.
