The Bulgarian News Agancy (BTA) will Wednesday launch its new project promoting European cohesion policies in Bulgaria and the Balkans aimed at achieving the European Commission's policy objectives of supporting job creation, business competitiveness, economic growth and improving citizens’ quality of life. Special focus will be put on the local community. The opening conference of the project will start at 10:30 am, at BTA’s MaxiM Hall in Sofia.

BTA’s Director General Kiril Valchev will address the participants of the forum.

Serbia's Ambassador to Bulgaria Zeljko Jovic, North Macedonia's Ambassador to Bulgaria Agneza Rusi Popovska, Bulgaria's Ambassador to North Macedonia Angel Angelov, Bulgaria's Ambassador to Romania Radko Vlaykov, and Deputy Regional Development Minister Angelina Todorova-Boneva will take part in a discussion on “Territorial Cooperation and a Safer and More Secure Europe. European Union cohesion policy in the Balkans”.

The speaker in the panel "EU Cohesion Policy" will be Irena Parvanova, Director of the Good Governance Directorate and Head of the Managing Authority of the Technical Assistance Programme 2021-2027 and Operational Programme Good Governance 2014-2020.

Irena Parvanova, Good Governance Directorate Director and head of the Managing Authority of the Technical Assistance Programme 2021-2027 and Operational Programme Good Governance 2014-2020, will be a speaker in the "EU Cohesion Policy" panel.

The title of the third panel discussion will be "Europe closer to citizens by promoting sustainable and integrated development of regions", as it will be attended by Deputy Regional Development Minister Angelina Todorova-Boneva and Burgas Regional Library Director Yana Karshiiska.

Experts will also talk on the topics "A more connected Europe", "A green, low-carbon transition to a zero-carbon economy", "A more social and inclusive Europe", "A more competitive and smarter Europe" and "Sofia's convergence policy".

Through its initiative, BTA aims to provide information to the general public and to promote an open dialogue on cohesion policy, local performance and the implementation of the European Union's policy priorities.

In the period from December 2023 to August 2024, BTA will organize discussions in its press clubs in the following cities: Blagoevgrad, Burgas, Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Vidin, Vratsa, Gabrovo, Dobrich, Kazanlak, Kardzhali, Kyustendil, Lovech, Montana, Pazardzhik, Pernik, Pleven, Plovdiv, Razgrad, Ruse, Samokov, Silistra, Sliven, Smolyan, Sofia, Stara Zagora, Targovishte, Haskovo, Shumen and Yambol, as well as cross-border conferences in Belgrade, Bosilegrad, Bucharest, Edirne, Skopje and Thessaloniki.
