21 projects have been funded under the new Local Authority Support Programme, Tourism Minister Zaritsa Dinkova at an official ceremony of signing contracts for providing financial assistance to Black Sea municipalities in Sofia on Monday. The reform supporting municipalities along Bulgaria's Black Sea coast implements partnership and decentralisation with local authorities, she noted.

“This model is an innovation for Bulgaria. In this way, intermediaries are eliminated,” Dinkova explained.

"The way we are going to promote the brand Bulgaria to the world is a historic step to improve our work with businesses. In addition to the state will, we have found the technical and administrative formula," said Dinkova. She also pointed out that tourism is an all-encompassing sector but also an important local policy. "We have shown that we are working for the sustainable development of tourism in the country. Our goals are being achieved through effective cooperation with local authorities," Dinkova underlined.

The programme for financing marketing activities of tourist services in the Black Sea municipalities in Bulgaria indirectly helps to increase tourist employment in the following municipalities of the Black Sea coast: Aksakovo, Balchik, Burgas, Byala, Varna, Devnya, Dalgopol, Malko Tarnovo, Nesebar, Pomorie, Primorsko, Sozopol, Suvorovo and Shabla.
