site.btaGovernment Proposes Personnel Changes in Leadership of Armed Forces

The Council of Ministers adopted Wednesday a decision to propose to the President to issue a decree appointing Colonel Dimitar Georgiev to the post of Deputy Commander of the Bulgarian Air Force and awarding him the senior officer rank of brigadier general, effective February 12, 2024, the government press office said.

The government also adopted a Decision on a proposal to the President to issue a decree appointing Admiral Emil Eftimov to the position of Chief of Defence after the expiry of his current four-year term in office.

The government proposed to release Major General Valeri Tsolov from the position of Commander of the Joint Forces Command and from military service as of December 26, 2023, due to reaching the age limit for the military rank.

The cabinet also proposed to dismiss Major General Krasimir Kanev from the position of National Military Representative in the National Military Representation in the Allied Command Operations in Mons, Belgium and to appoint him to the position of Commander of the Joint Force Command as of December 26, 2023.

According to another proposal of the Council of Ministers, Brigadier General Nikolay Karaivanov should be dismissed from the position of Deputy Commander of the Land Forces and from military service as of December 28 2023, due to reaching the age limit for the military rank.

The Council of Ministers also adopted a decision on a proposal to the President to issue a decree to relieve Brigadier General Plamen Yordanov of the post of Chief of Staff of the Land Forces and appoint him to the post of Deputy Commander of the Land Forces as of December 28, 2023.

The cabinet proposed that Brigadier General Petyo Mirchev be relieved from the post of Deputy Commander of the Air Force and from military service as of February 14, 2024, due to reaching the age limit for the military rank held.
