The Ministry of Labour and Social Policy Wednesday hosted a Christmas market for social causes. Participating were charities with 12 social causes, said the Ministry.
Among the participants were several projects supporting the development of special-needs children and their parents, parentless children and victims of violence; campaigning to save a Sofia riding school that works with special-needs children; and working to enhance the employability of special-needs people. They all offered products produced by them: cookies, art, postcards, souvenirs and among others, to raise money to finance their activities.
The market was unveiled by Education Minister Galin Tzokov, Deputy Rrime Minister Mariya Gabriel, Labour Minister Ivanka Shalapatova and Culture Minister Krastyu Krastev.
In his speech, Tzokov said that "charity will change us and make us an even more inclusive, and even more democratic society." He added that efforts should be made not only to ensure that all children receive a quality education, but that they are happy as well. "We see here their creativity, their efforts and those of their parents, but also the efforts of all of you, for which I congratulate you. Thank you for working with these children and parents because this also contributes to their happiness," the Education Minister addressed the bazaar participants.
