Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy Friday expressed gratitude to Bulgarian Parliament for reconfirming the delivery of armoured personnel carriers to Ukraine as a new military aid package. "With this decision, we are strengthening our Europe and the defense of freedom," he wrote on X social media.

Earlier on Friday, the Bulgarian Parliament overrode a presidential veto on sending armoured vehicles to Ukraine as aid. The legislature reconfirmed, in a 162-55 votes with no abstentions, the ratification of an agreement between the Defence Ministries of Bulgaria and Ukraine for the provision of aid. The agreement was signed in Sofia on August 8 and in Kyiv on November 13. President Rumen Radev vetoed it on December 4.

"I thank political leaders [GERB leader] Boyko Borissov, [Movement for Rights and Freedoms floor leader] Delyan Peevski, and [Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria co-leader] Kiril Petkov," Zelenskyy added. The three parliamentary groups voted for overriding the veto.

In November, a report of the parliamentary Defence Committee stated that with the agreement, the Ukrainian side will be provided with armoured transport equipment with its available armament, as well as spare parts for its service, which is no longer is used for the needs of the Interior Ministry.
