On this date in Bulgarian history:

1878: A Supreme Court is established.
2000: The Bulgarian National Agrarian Union-Popular Union is set up.
2007: The last conscripts of Sofia's garrison are seen off in a ceremony held at the Unknown Soldier Monument in the Bulgarian capital.

NOVEMBER 26

On this date in Bulgarian history:

1878: Military School (Bulgaria's first) opens in Sofia.
1913: Seat of Bulgarian Exarchate is moved from Constantinople to Sofia.
1940: Bulgarian Communist Party begins Sobolev Campaign, aimed at concluding friendship and mutual assistance pact between Bulgaria and USSR during World War II. Bulgaria declines Soviet proposal on November 28, 1940.
1956: First Bulgarian colour feature film, 'Item One', premieres.
1990: Podkrepa Confederation of Labour calls nationwide general strike demanding resignation of Prime Minister Andrei Loukanov.
