A total of eleven nominations have been received for the 2023 Good Samaritan annual awards, organized by the Samaritans Association in Stara Zagora. Two of them did not meet the criteria for awarding the prize, while nine contenders will go on to compete for the award, said Maria Daneva, coordinator of public initiatives and the Samaritan Volunteer Service. The award will be presented for the 13th time to a benefactor or organization that helped a person in need, added Daneva.

The first nominees were two actresses from two theatres in Stara Zagora, Maria Cherkezova from the Geo Milev Drama Theater and Tanya Georgieva from the troupe of the State Puppet Theater in Stara Zagora. They painted the walls of the Pediatrics Clinic at Prof. Dr. Stoyan Kirkovich Hospital to make the space more pleasant for children, their parents and all healthcare workers.

Seventeen-year-old student Christian Konov was also nominated for the prize by the employees of the Prof. Dr. Stoyan Kirkovich Hospital for organizing a charity bazaar in support of prematurely born children at the Neonatology Clinic at the Stara Zagora Hospital.

Police officers Ivan Kolaksazov and Ivan Tanev were nominated for helping two women whose car fell into a ditch in the city.

The fourth nomination was Plamena Traikova who paid for the purchases of a woman who forgot her wallet.

The staff of the Stara Zagora pizzeria LaCasa is also a contender for the award. At the end of June, they helped a woman recover until an emergency medical team arrived.

The teams of two kindergartens have also been nominated for the 2023 Good Samaritan award, as was the Atila Fight Club, for their continuing support, blood donations, and involvement in various causes.

The last nomination was Irena Zlateva and the members of the Rescue Club for the Future - Stara Zagora, who helped a crashed motorist and prevented other incidents at the scene.

The 2023 Good Samaritan annual awards ceremony will be held on December 11 in Stara Zagora. Voting for the Good Samaritan Community Award 2023 is expected to start in a few days.
