On Friday the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) signed a media partnership agreement with the State Opera Plovdiv. The document was signed by BTA Director General Kiril Valchev and the director of the cultural institution Nina Naydenova at the agency's national press club in Plovdiv.

The partnership between the two institutions begins on the eve of the 70th anniversary of the State Opera Plovdiv, which is the successor to the Plovdiv Philharmonic - one of the most prestigious state orchestras established in 1945, the BTA Director General said. He said the agency's partnerships with Bulgaria's opera houses were particularly important. So far, BTA has such agreements with the opera houses in Sofia, Burgas, Ruse and Stara Zagora, and practically with the signing of the agreement with the State Opera - Plovdiv there will be media partnership agreements with all opera houses in Bulgaria, Valchev said.

BTA will publish information about the State Opera - Plovdiv every week in the agency's feeds, including in English. The agency is looking for and will appoint a special correspondent in Plovdiv to work exclusively in the field of culture, education and science for BTA's LIK magazine.

Opera Plovdiv is an institution that is very actively developing its creative policy to attract international opera tourism with its festival at the Ancient Theatre, said director of the opera Nina Naydenova. In her words, spirit and culture are the most important and unfortunately the most sidelined at the moment, and such a cooperation is extremely important. The opera will celebrate its anniversary next week with creative performances by each of its ensembles.

This year, Opera Plovdiv is launching the "Opera is Here" initiative. It will present operatic art as a message, a place, a space, as a presence in the heart, in relationships, because opera unites seven genres, Naydenova said.

The Plovdiv Opera House was established in November 1953, when the first performance of "The Bartered Bride" by Bedrich Smetana took place.
