The day after the mayoral runoffs in Bulgaria on Sunday, Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov raised fresh demands for the government to resign. "The elections are over. The next item on the agenda is the resignation of the government," he said in a post on his social media.

He said that a new motion for a vote of no-confidence in the government over its defence policy will be submitted on Wednesday.

On October 13, the government of Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov survived its first no-confidence vote over its policy in the energy sector. The vote motion was backed by Vazrazhdane, the Socialists and There Is Such a People. The very same day the vote failed, BSP leader Korneliya Ninova said that they would waste no time and move for a new one, this time over the government's defence policy. She also said that the reasoning has long been prepared and that Vazrazhdane have vowed to back it.
