site.bta7,639 PCR Tests Confirm 157 New COVID-19 Cases, Bringing Bulgaria's Total to 15,908

August 28 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 15,908 on Friday after 157 new infections were confirmed over the last 24 hours out of 7,639 PCR tests, according to data posted on www.coronavirus.bg.

Sofia City tops the list of new cases with 33 patients, followed by Blagoevgrad with 21 and Varna with 17.

A total of 392,089 PCR tests have been performed since the first cases were diagnosed on March 8.

The active cases are 4,270. The newly infected persons include 7 medical staff (2 doctors, 3 nurses, 1 orderly and 1 other), and this category now totals 866.

The hospitalized patients number 726, including 65 in intensive care.

Another 294 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 11,044.

Eight more fatalities were reported, and the death toll now totals 594. RI/LG
