site.btaJanuary-June Donations via Text Messages Exceed 1.6 Million Leva

Sofia, September 1 (BTA) - Donations by text messages via the
DMS platform in the first half of the year exceeded 1.6 million
leva, which is more than the 1.3 million donated via the
platform during the entire 2019, the Bulgarian Charity Forum
said.

The donations peaked during the two Covid-19-related charity
fund-raising campaigns, in support of front-line health workers
and in support of the Bulgarian Food Bank. More than 660,000
leva were donated from late March to late May in the two
campaigns, which also had gratuitous support from many media
outlets.

Donations on the DMS platform in January-June in all campaigns
totalled more than 1.2 million leva. Text messages by individual
 donors accounted for more than 70 per cent of all the
donations.

In 2019, the DMS platform ran a total of 264 campaigns where
1,284,084 leva were donated, which is 18 per cent more than the
