site.btaBolhrad Marks Bessarabian Bulgarians Day with Floral Tributes

Bolhrad marked the Day of Bessarabian Bulgarians with laying of floral tributes at the memorial of the Bulgarian voluntary corps in the Russo-Turkish War (1877-1878), the Regional Centre for Bulgarian Culture in Bolhrad told BTA.  Participating in the initiative were representatives of the Centre for Culture and Recreation with the Bolhrad City Council and the G.S. Rakovski Bolhrad High School. 

„Each year we hold events, dedicated to the Day of Bessarabian Bulgarians. This year bеcause of the war we decided to mark the occasion with laying of floral tributes only,” Lilia Kara of the Bulgarian Centre told BTA. 

Protoiereus Sergiy Todorov, church leader of the St. Nicholas Church, talked about the role of the festival in the life of Bessarabian Bulgarians.  

Local authorities officials and members of the public took part in the ritual.
