The Stara Zagora Regional Food Safety Directorate (RFSD) found an outbreak of COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) in a mink farm, the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) said on Tuesday. The farm is located in Mazherito village.

Disease control measures have been imposed by order of the BFSA Executive Director. The movement of animals and products to and from the farm has been banned, visitor access has been restricted and biosecurity measures have been increased.

The Agency stated that the site is under increased official control and surveillance by the regional veterinary authorities. In order to detect any possible infection within a reasonable period of time and to take timely control measures, weekly laboratory samples are taken for testing for the presence of the virus.

RSFD Stara Zagora is in close communication with the local Regional Health Inspectorate.
