The inclusion of Bulgarians in the Constitution of North Macedonia is the smaller problem, the larger problems are related to “the identity, the history and the language of the Macedonian people,” said former Macedonian prime minister and VMRO-DPMNE leader Nikola Gruevski in an interview for the Serbian newspaper Politika.

In the interview, published in full by several media outlets in North Macedonia, Gruevski clarifies his position about his strained relations with the current VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski, which continues to dominate the political agenda in the country.

According to Gruevski, his political persecution continues with the same intensity as in the past six-serve years and former prime minister Zoran Zaev continue the have the largest influence in the prosecution, the courts and the media and he is still set to persecute Gruevski.

Asked why the international community doesn’t take notice of this, Gruevski says that the representatives of the international community are aware that Zaev is impeding the work of the judicial system in order to achieve political and business goals, but their tolerance is due to the fact that Zaev did a good job for them with the treaties with Greece and Bulgaria.

„Knowing Zaev’s views, stated publicly in an interview for a Bulgarian media, I wonder what will ensue for North Macedonia after the elections next year if he continues to hold hostage the leader of the opposition”, says Gruevski.
