September 23 (BTA) - Deposits of Households and Non-profit institutions serving households (NPISHs) added up to 57.753 billion leva (52 per cent of GDP) at the end of August 2020, having increased by 7.6 per cent year-on-year, the Bulgarian National Bank reported here on Wednesday.

At the end of August 2020, deposits of the non-government sector amounted to 88.847 billion leva (80 per cent of GDP), increasing annually by 8.9 per cent. Deposits of Non-financial corporations stood at 27.5473 billion leva (24.8 per cent of GDP) at the end of August 2020. Compared to the same month of 2019, they increased by 12.2 per cent. Deposits of financial corporations increased by 5.2 per cent year-on-year this August, adding up to 3.547 billion leva (3.2 per cent of GDP) at the end of the month.

At the end of August 2020, claims on loans to the non-government sector amounted to 63.580 billion leva (57.3 per cent of GDP), having increased by 6.1 per cent year-on-year. Loans to Non-financial corporations increased by 2.2 per cent this August year-on-year, adding up to 34.313 billion leva (30.9 per cent of GDP) at the month's end.

Loans to Households and NPISHs stood at 24.934 billion leva (22.5 per cent of GDP) at the end of August 2020, having increased by 7.4 per cent compared to the same month of 2019. At the end of August 2020, loans for house purchases added up to 11.515 billion leva, having increased by 12.3 per cent year-on-year. Consumer loans amounted to 11.725 billion leva, having risen by 6.2 per cent and compared to last August.

Loans extended to financial corporations amounted to 4.333 billion at the end of August 2020 (3.9 per cent of GDP), having increased by 38.2 per cent year-on-year. RY/MY
