site.btaBulgaria's Electricity Production Down 8.12 Per Cent in January-September 2020, Year on Year

October 2 (BTA) - Between January 1 and September 27, 2020, Bulgaria produced 29,940,363 MWh of electricity, down by 8.12 per cent from the 32,585,162 MWh generated in the like period of 2019, the Electricity System Operator (ESO) reported on its website.

Year on year, domestic electricity consumption decreased by 3.95 per cent in the January 1 - September 27 period, from 28,118,863 MWh in the nine months of 2019 to 27,009,242 MWh in 2020.

The share of renewable energy sources grew by 12.51 per cent in the transmission network and by 7.39 per cent in the distribution network. Wind power plants contributed most to this increase.

The share of hydroelectricity declined by 2.18 per cent between January-September 2019 and 2020, the ESO statistics show. NV/LG
