site.bta516 New COVID-19 Cases Confirmed in 24 Hours

October 9 (BTA) - A record-high 516 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in the 24 hours until Friday night based on 5,209 PCR tests, according to data posted on the national portal coronavirus.bg. Positive tests accounted for 9,90 per cent of the total, up from 9.62 per cent on Thursday.

Active cases number 6,816. Of these 1,063 people have been hospitalized with 56 in intensive care. Seven people died during the past 24 hours.

Some 115 recoveries were recorded in the past 24 hours, bringing the total of 15,563.

Sofia (138), Plovdiv (51) and Blagoevgrad (49) recorded the largest number of new infections.

So far 1,292 members of medical staff have been infected with coronavirus. RI/PP
