site.bta5,819 PCR Tests Confirm New Daily Record of 785 COVID-19 Cases, Bringing Bulgaria's Total to 25,774

Sofia, October 14 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases
 in Bulgaria reached 25,774 after 5,819 PCR tests identified 785
 new infections in the 24 hours until Thursday midnight,
according to data posted on www.coronavirus.bg. For the first
time, the newly confirmed daily cases exceed 700. The test
positivity rate now stands at 13.49 per cent.

Sofia City Region tops the list of new cases with 259 positive
tests, followed by Plovdiv Region with 87, Blagoevgrad Region
with 82, and Shoumen Region with 39.

A total of 583,143 PCR tests have been performed since the first
 infections were diagnosed on March 8.

The active cases are 8,712 .The newly infected persons include
31 medical staff (18 doctors, 7 nurses, 1 orderly, 2 feldshers
and 3 other), and this category now totals 1,415.

Currently, the hospitalized patients number 1,307, including 64
in intensive care.

Another 164 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24
hours, bringing the total to 16,139.

Eight more fatalities were reported, and the death toll now
