Deputy Ministers of Agriculture and Food Georgi Toshev and Tania Georgieva met with representatives of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) on the occasion of their first technical mission on agriculture in Bulgaria, which is being held in Sofia, the Bulgarian Agriculture Ministry reported here on Monday. 

Deputy Minister Toshev is responsible for the overall coordination activities of the Ministry on Bulgaria's accession to the organization. He pointed out that, given the high priority of Bulgaria's membership in the OECD, the presence of the broadest possible range of representatives was ensured at the event, not only from state structures, but also from the private sector, NGOs and farmers' associations.

Deputy Minister Georgieva stressed that achieving Bulgaria's OECD membership is a topic on which there is public and political consensus. She expressed confidence that the members of the technical mission would gather all the necessary information on Bulgaria's agricultural sector.

During the mission, individual meetings will be held with representatives of farmers' organisations and scientists from specialised universities.
