Some 100 custom-built cars are participating in a car show on the pier in Ruse, which is part of the international Mask Festival. The owners of the cars are mostly from Romania and Bulgaria, the event organizer Stanimir Marinov told BTA.

According to him, owning a custom car is an expensive hobby. "The cost of customizing a car can vary from BGN 2,000 to BGN 100 000 - 200 000. There is no exact limit. It depends on the budget you have. One of the best things I notice at the show is that most owners have worked on the cars themselves. They've saved up their own money and gone to great lengths. Their cars have some of the best optical tuning available right now," Marinov explained.

The festival program Saturday also included a show of the strongest men. Participants competed in six strength disciplines, including truck pulling, farm walk with two 140kg weights, and deadlifting a car.

The Mask Festival supports two causes. One is road safety. The event also raises funds to build a rehabilitation center for children with musculoskeletal and mental problems. It is a project of the Alexander Rusev Foundation.

During last year's edition of the festival, the funds raised were used to purchase a rehabilitation bathtub for disabled children.
