New prospects of bilateral cooperation in education, innovation and culture were discussed between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel and Austrian Ambassador to Bulgaria Andrea Ikić-Böhm at a working meeting in Sofia, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry reported on Friday evening.

The two officials underscored the traditionally good relations and strong economic ties between their countries.

Gabriel thanked the Ambassador for an invitation to attend the upcoming inauguration of the Austrian Presidency of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region and for Vienna's support for Sofia's bid to join the UN Human Rights Council. She expressed support for Austria's candidacy to the UN Security Council.

Gabriel and Ikić-Böhm considered joint initiatives in the field of cultural diplomacy and opportunities for joint work on creative design projects related to the green transition.
