October 28 (BTA) - A total of 2,569 coronavirus
infections were confirmed in the 24 hours until Wednesday
midnight through 11,226 PCR tests, bringing Bulgaria's total to
42,701 cases, out of 680,744 PCR tests performed since the start
 of the epidemic, according to data posted on www.coronavirus.bg
 on Wednesday. The test positivity rate now stands at 22.88 per
cent. The majority of the newly detected infections are of
people in the 40-49 age bracket.

The active cases are 22,597. Currently, the hospitalized
patients number 2,217, including 145 in intensive care.

Recoveries in the last 24 hours number 293, bringing the total
to 18,943.

Twenty-five more fatalities were reported, bringing the total
death toll to 1,161.

Infections among medical staff since the start of the epidemic
