site.btaBulgaria Undertaking New Measures against COVID-19 worth 80 Mln Lv

November 8 (BTA) - The anti-empidemic measures that the state will implement by the end of the year to deal with the spread of COVID will amount to 80 million leva, said Health Minister Kostadin Angelov at a briefing on Sunday at the Council of Ministers.

The Health Minister pointed out that the morbidity over the past weeks has been over 300 per 100,000 people and according to its action plan the state is taking measures to reorganize medical care in Bulgaria.

Angelov said that an additional 5 million leva per month will be allocated to all general practitioners, which will amount to a 1,000 leva each. In some of the diagnostic consult centres in Sofia and in larger cities, where the pressure on the hospital system is high, additional COVID zones will be opened, where a doctor, a nurse and a laboratory assistant will work. About 3 million leva per month will be allocated for this. The team will receive, in addition to their salaries, 1,000 leva per person and 10 leva per person per patient.

We will increase the capacity for maintaining available beds in all medical institutions from 10 to 20 per cent, the Health Minister said. For large hospitals that maintain a capacity of at least 50 per cent of their beds, an additional 50 million leva will be allocated to strengthen the capacity of these structures for treatment and diagnosis of patients with COVID-19.

An additional 15 million leva will be allocated to purchase antigen tests for patients with COVID-19 symptoms.

Minister Angelov pointed out that by order of the Prime Minister, the teams of the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Finance and Sofia Municipality had gathered and managed to evaluate the measures. The Minister is prepared for an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Ministers, where these measures will be adopted and they can begin to be implemented. RI/DT
