site.btaBurgas Will Host European Universities Debating Championships
Burgas will host the European Universities Debating Championships, with over 560 entrants, the Burgas town hall said. Burgas has been selected over London, Dublin, Amsterdam, Munich and Saint Petersburg.
The event will bring together over 240 teams from all over Europe which will debate on socially significant topics using the British Parliamentary Debate format, where four teams of two members each debate on a topic with 15 minutes to prepare. Judges decide the winner.
Nikolai Angelov and Rumen Marinov, who were finalists at the World Universities Debating Championships in Madrid, are expected to participate.
The Championships are organized by the Bulgarian Debate Association and the Burgas Municipality in partnership with the Burgas Free University, the Regional Directorate of Education, the International Youth Centre and the Alexander Georgiev – Kodzhakafaliata School.
The Championships will take place between August 20 and 25.
