A fire that broke out in a pine wood near the Iskra Village, Parvomay Municipality, on Saturday evening, has been entirely contained, the Plovdiv Regional Directorate for Fire Safety and Civil Protection told BTA on Sunday. Sixteen hours later, the blaze had yet to be put out by noon.
Seven fire-fighting teams responded to the alert on site. More than 60 people have joined the effort: fire fighters, volunteers, forest rangers and local residents. Twenty-six service persons of the Asenovgrad-based 4th Artillery Regiment are also helping extinguish the fire, after the Plovdiv Regional Governor approached the military for assistance.
The fire service said that the Regional Directorate had received alerts about 59 fires over the last 48 hours, and 42 fires have been put out. Nobody was hurt in any of the incidents.
