In May 2023, a total of 14,775 unemployed found a job with the help of labour offices, up by 516 from a month earlier, the National Employment Agency said on Thursday. A total of 413 pensioners, students, and employed found a job using the labour offices' services. The biggest share of newly employed in March was observed in manufacturing (20.1%), followed by hotels and restaurants (14%), trade (12.4%), state governance (7%), agriculture, forestry, and fisheries (6.6%), construction (5.2%), humane healthcare and social work (5%), among others.

Last month, 829 unemployed from risk groups were appointed at subsidized positions: 154 under employment programmes and measures, and 675 under schemes of Operational Programme Human Resources Development. A total of 402 jobless and employed were included in trainings and 355 finished their training from previous months, acquiring a new profession or key competence.

The National Employment Agency reports 143,902 registered unemployed in May, down by 4,448 from a month earlier. That puts the level of registered unemployment at 5.1%, which is by 0.1 percentage points below the April 2023 and May 2022 levels.

A total of 13,116 vacant positions on the primary market were declared at labour offices last month, which is an increase by 1.3% compared to May 2022. The biggest share of vacant positions in the real economy were declared in manufacturing (27.4%), hotels and restaurants (24.2%), trade (11.4%), state governance (7.4%), among others.
