There is no risk for pensions, nobody will leave pensioners without them, the National Social Security Institute (NSSI) Governor, Ivaylo Ivanov, told journalists here answering a question if there is a risk for pensions being paid out if Palriament fails to adopt a new state budget bill.

Ivanov said that adopting a budget extension or a new budget is important, so that the 12% pension increase can be guaranteed. He expressed his belief that this will happen and there won’t be any problems.

Commenting the warning strike by NSSI employees earlier on Thursday, he said that he has been in constant dialogue over the past couple of months with the two main trade unions in Bulgaria – the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) and the Podkrepa Confederation of Labour. According to Ivanov, the 30% wage increase, which is staff is demanding, cannot happen before this year’s budget is adopted. He said he expects a regular government to be formed.

“The colleagues likely have a good reason to ask for higher wages, but this is a process that goes through a pretty complicated budgetary procedure,” he said.
