Sofia, November 13 (BTA) - GERB Floor Leader Tsvetan Tsvetanov
Thursday submitted three applications to National Assembly Chair
Tsetska Tsacheva, expressing his consent that his parliamentary
immunity be lifted as requested on Wednesday by Prosecutor
General Sotir Tsatsarov, the GERB Party said in a press release.

In his former capacity as interior minister, Tsvetanov is a
defendant in three criminal trials: one in connection with a
failure to exercise control over phone tapping at the Ministry,
another one for embezzlement of more than 50,000 leva from the
Ministry, and a third one for his refusal to grant six court
requests for use of special surveillance means against the
former head of the Veliko Turnovo Unit for Combating Organized
Crime Orlin Todorov. The court proceedings in the three cases
have been suspended on account of Tsvetanov's immunity. The
defendant has repeatedly stated his readiness to waive his
privilege in order to prove that he is innocent and have his
