Bulgaria to Export Fruit and Vegetables to China

Beijing/Sofia, October 29 (BTA) - Bulgaria will start a procedure for fruit and vegetable exports to China. The matter was arranged between Bulgarian Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Vassil Groudev and officials from China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, who met in Beijing, Groudev's ministry told BTA on Thursday.

The sides also discussed necessary steps to allow Bulgaria to export dairy products, pork and chicken to China. Groudev assured his hosts that Bulgaria is free of classical swine fever and China will be presented with documents proving this.

"Our goal is not only to gain a foothold on the Chinese market, but also to acquaint consumers with Bulgarian products," the Deputy Minister said.

He presented a questionnaire filled out by the Bulgarian authorities as a risk analysis tool for importing tobacco to China. This is one of the documents required by the Chinese government for safe tobacco imports to the country.

Groudev expressed Bulgaria's willingness to promote bilateral relations and called for speeding up the procedures to let more Bulgarian high-quality products reach the Chinese market.
