Foreign Ministry Implements Project for Electronic Consular Services

Sofia, November 5 (BTA) - The Foreign Ministry is implementing a project for electronic consular services which is expected to greatly ease the procedure for obtaining Bulgarian documents by Bulgarians abroad, Rakovski Lashev, head of the Consular Relations Department in the Foreign Ministry, told a BTA-hosted news conference on Thursday.

The project will allow on-line application for Bulgarian ID documents and driving licenses. It will also improve the administrative capacity of the Foreign Ministry.

Lashev said that more than 1.5 million Bulgarians live abroad, and many of them are located outside big cities and capitals which greatly hinders their access to consular services.

The implementation of the project started back in April 2014.
