PM Borissov, Reformist Bloc Consider Coalition Government Formula a Success, Differ on MRF

Sofia, November 6 (BTA) - Prime Minister Boyko Borissov wrote on Facebook on Thursday: "I consider the coalition government formula a success. We concurred on this with Health Minister Peter Moskov and Reformist Bloc Co-floor Leader Radan Kanev today. I differ from their position on the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF)."

Borissov also wrote: "The results of the recent local elections are compelling proof that the ruling majority is stable and the government will continue implementing its programme and the planned reforms. With their election showing, GERB, the Reformist Bloc, ABV and to some extent the Patriotic Front prove the formula is right at present."

"Congratulations are due to a few more parties which won seats on municipal councils, although they did not win mayoral seats. Congratulations also to the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), which put up a manly fight in many towns and its results were decided by few votes. The same applies to the MRF and ABV," Borissov wrote.

"Meeting with Kanev and Moskov, I told them I differ from their position on the MRF. Strategically speaking, I believe that Bulgarian Muslims, of whom GERB is happy to have many members, have their own place in politics as was proved by the election results. I do not like hate speech and the use of epithets which are not easily forgotten and lead to lasting enmity. That is why I believe that given these election results, we can rally around laws on the judicial reform, health care, education and security," said Borissov. "I will be very happy if the BSP and the MRF can be drawn in to support laws on policies important for the country."

Borissov said: "When the time comes, it would be wise to support a mayor of the BSP or the MRF for the chairmanship of the National Association of Municipalities to ensure a really calm working atmosphere and representation for all parties. I have already discussed this with [BSP leader] Mihail Mikov, and I hope they will nominate a good candidate who has won popular support as a mayor."
