Electricity Distributor Energo-Pro Fined Mln 14.4 Lv for Abuse of Dominant Market Position

Sofia, November 6 (BTA) - The Commission for Protection of Competition said on Friday that it has imposed a fine of 14.4 million leva on electricity distributor Energo-Pro for abuse of its dominant market position.

For a period of six years, Energo-Pro refused to restore electricity supplies to Gotar Investment OOD because of the network's poor condition, while at the same time it supplied electricity to other consumers in Novi Pazar's industrial zone using the same network.

The Commission argues that Energo Pro may have restricted or hampered competition and impacted negatively the consumer's interests by its refusal.

The fine is equal to 0.5 per cent of the distributor's revenues from electricity supply.

The Commission has given Energo-Pro one month to begin to supply electricity to Gotar.
