Unemployment in Q3 of 2015 Stands at 8.3%

Sofia, November 16 (BTA) - There were a total of 279,300
unemployed persons in the third quarter of 2015 in Bulgaria,
which account for a 8.3 per cent unemployment rate,  the
National Statistical Institute said on Monday. There were 24.3
per cent less unemployed persons, compared to the third quarter
of 2014, which means that unemployment has dropped by 2.5 per
cent year-on-year.

Unemployment has decreased during the period under review in
both men and women. The number of jobless males was higher - at
8.8 per cent in Q3 of 2015. Unemployment among women was 7.6 per
 cent. There were a total of 159,100 unemployed males (57 per
cent) and 120,100 unemployed females (43 per cent) between
October and December of last year.

A total of 12.7 per cent of all unemployed persons have
post-secondary education, 50.9 have secondary education and 36.4
 per cent have primary education or less.

There were a total of 176,000 long-term unemployed persons, who
have been jobless for over a year, in the third quarter of 2015,
 accounting for 63 per cent of all unemployed. Their number has
dropped by 1.4 percentage points compared to the like quarter of
 2014. The long-term unemployment rate was 5.2 per cent, being
1.1 percentage points higher for men compared to women (5.7 per
cent and 4.6 per cent respectively). Of the total number of
unemployed 50,200 persons (18 per cent) were looking for their
first job.
