Polish Aircraft Makes Emergency Landing at Bourgas over Bomb Alert, No Explosive Device Found

Bourgas, on the Black Sea, November 19 (BTA) - An Egypt-bound
Polish aircraft with 161 passengers on board made an emergency
landing at Bourgas Airport at 5:40 hrs on Thursday morning after
receiving information about a bomb threat, the Interior
Ministry said. Later it emerged that the aircraft of Small
Planet Airlines was making a charter flight from Warsaw to
Hurghada. No explosive device has been found on board, Bourgas District Prosecutor Kalina Chapkunova and Bourgas police department chief Kaloyan Kaloyanov told a joint news briefing.

The alarm was raised by a 67-year old Polish passenger, the
police said. He has been questioned by the police and has
admitted to drinking alcohol. The man has been detained for 24 hours but no charges have been pressed yet.

In a statement on its website Small Planet said it has sent
another plane to transport the passengers from Bourgas to
Hurghada and that the man had later admitted it was a joke.

The airport's Executive Director Georgi Chipilski said that all safety procedures are
being observed. The border police are checking all vehicles at
the entrance to the airport.

Transport Minister Ivailo Moskovski told journalists that no extra safety measures
are required at airports across the country.
