Ukraine Gas Stoppage Has Not Affected Bulgaria

Sofia, November 25 (BTA) - The Bulgarian Energy Ministry said on Wednesday the rate of supply of Russian natural gas to Bulgaria remains unchanged after Russia's Gazprom halted gas supplies to Ukraine earlier in the day, posing a risk to the fuel's transit to Europe.

The gas ordered for delivery via Negru Voda, Romania, which is the entry point to the Bulgarian gas transmission network, is being supplied in the agreed quantities and under the agreed pressure, the ministry said. The pressure in the transit pipelines going through Bulgaria is also within the agreed parameters. The situation is being watched and measures will be taken if necessary.

The Energy Ministry recalled that the season of natural gas injection into the Chiren gas storage facility in Northwestern Bulgaria expired at the end of October. The facility now holds more than 450 million cubic metres of natural gas ready for use.
