Vice President Popova Addresses Participants in Second Forum of Bulgarian School in Western Hemisphere Hosted by Chicago
Sofia, April 25 (BTA) - Vice President Margarita Popova addressed the participants in the Second Forum of Bulgarian Schools in the Western Hemisphere, organized by the Association of Bulgarian Schools Abroad, the Presidency press secretariat said on Sunday.
Popova was a special guest at the event which was held in Chicago.
Participating in the forum were university lecturers and over 100 representatives of Bulgarian schools in eleven States of America, Canada, UK, France, Austria and Cyprus.
In her address Popova spoke about the importance of the work of teachers. The Vice President also said that she supports all initiatives of the Association of Bulgarian Schools Abroad, and above all the petition to promote multilingualism in the European Union. Popova urged the participants in the forum to choose a motto of the event, suggesting this could be a line from the Alphabet Prayer by the medieval Bulgarian scholar, writer and translator Constantine of Preslav.
In Chicago Popova visited the three Bulgarian churches and paid tribute to the Monument of Bulgarian hero Vassil Levski.
