Seoul, August 22 (BTA) - A Bulgarian parliamentary delegation led by National Assembly Chairman Dimiter Glavchev Tuesday visited Seoul's Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) where Bulgarian is studied, Parliament's press office said.

Glavchev talked with the University's President Kim In Chul and with teachers and students of the Department of Bulgarian Studies.

Glavchev thanked Kim and the university leadership for popularizing Bulgaria through the study of its language. Every year between 15 and 20 Korean students enroll to study Bulgarian.

In the 12 years since HUFS launched Bulgarian Studies, more than 150 Korean students have studied in Bulgaria.

Addressing the students and professors, Glavchev said: "The Republic of Korea is a close friend and a priority partner. I believe that the future cooperation between our nations is in the hands of the educated young people who will continue our joint efforts."

Earlier in the day, Glavchev laid a wreath at the Memorial Tower of the Seoul National Cemetery. The Bulgarian delegation paid tribute to the Koreans who fell in the independence movement and the Korean and Vietnam wars, Parliament's press office said.

The parliamentary delegation is on an official visit to the Republic of Korea on August 21-23 at the invitation of National Assembly Speaker Chung Sye-kyun, who met with Glavchev on Monday.
