site.btaParliament Adopts Interdepartmental Commission for Weapons Export Control's 2016 Report

Sofia, September 27 (BTA) - Parliament adopted on Wednesday the 2016 report of the Interdepartmental Commission for Export Control and Non-proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction with the Economy Minister.

The Interdepartmental Commission has issued last year a total of 595 permits and certificates for the export and transfer of defence-related products (DRP) from Bulgaria. DRP export and transfer in 2016 totalled 1.015 billion leva. A total of 415 permits and certificates for the import and transfer of DRP in Bulgaria were issued in 2016, valued at 524 million euro. The total value of import and transfer done in Bulgaria adds up to 164 million euro. A total of 190 international certificates for import of DRP were issued in 2016.

The Economy Minister has issued 19 registration certificates for the export and transfer of dual-use products and technology, as well as four certificates permitting dealing in such products, which is included in a public register. Export and transfer of such products in 2016 stood at close to 14 million euro. A total of 22 individual export permits were issued in 2016 for a total value of 24 million euro. Four of these permits were not used. The total value of export conducted with individual permits amounts to over 12 million euro.

No applications for dual-use products and technology transfer permits were received by the Commission last year. A total of 28 import certificates worth over 73 million euro were issued, while the total import adds up to 77 million euro (including as part of six certificates from 2015).
