No Fipronil-Contaminated Chicken Meat on Bulgarian Market

Sofia, September 29 (BTA) - There is no fipronil-contaminated chicken meat on the Bulgarian market, the Food Safety Agency said late on Thursday through the Agriculture, Food and Forestry Ministry's press office.

The Agency has done lab testing of chicken meat samples from the four largest local producers. Meat of broiler chickens and laying hens was tested by an accredited laboratory, which found that all four samples were free of fipronil.

The Food Safety Agency will continue its tight monitoring of eggs and egg products made in Bulgaria or trading on the EU's free market. Starting in October, the Agency will take samples from all farms and packaging centres every month until the year's end.
