Sofia, October 5 (BTA) - The Supreme Administrative Prosecution Office ordered the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency, the Consumer Protection Commission and the National Police to conduct joint checks all over Bulgaria following media reports about unsafe food and other hazardous substances sold to school students.

News outlets have reported that school students have consumed foods and beverages containing dangerous ingredients or chemical pollutants from the environment, as well as substances of unknown composition, and that they have access to psychoactive drugs (such as "merry tea"), alcoholic drinks, cigarettes, hookahs and tobacco products which are sold in shops located very close to or inside schools, or distributed by illegal sellers near schools.
